S is for Shame
In December we ran another ABC for Yoga & Health webinar, this one was all about shame.

"Shame originates from an individual's perception of what is right and wrong. Combine this perception with a sense of ego and pride, we then have the origin for many predictable yet confusing behavioural patterns. Shame is like a creature that lurks in the background that secretly disempowers. How can we face shame? How can we identify behaviour patterns that come from shame? Is shame an individual response or come from the society? Does shame have any positive use as an emotion? In this webinar, we will look at yoga's approach to our relationship with shame and its relationship with success and confidence." - Colin
"Shame is one of the universal feeling that we, as human beings experience at some point of our lives. Yet it is one that many of us still struggle with; because it is by definition an unpleasant emotion to bear. Does our ability to hold and resolve the feeling of shame get better with age? Or do we find new challenges at each turn of our life's journey? Over recent years, there has been more emphasis on being "politically correct" and not shaming another individual based on their gender, sexuality, body and life choices. However there is the use of shame in order to achieve this. Can we as human race truly move towards a "no shaming" culture, or is shame an inherent part of being human?" - Stanford
