K is For Knee Surgery
In June 2021, we ran a webinar focusing on K is for Knee Surgery.
The webinar started off with Colin sharing how the knee is a complicated joint and it is only by observing, asking questions and getting as much information as possible that you can know what direction will be helpful in each situation. Stanford then shared details about the common ways knee injuries are presented in patients and covered some of the common causes. The majority of the webinar was spent exploring ways to prepare people physically and mentally before and after knee surgery.

"The knee is the most complex joint within the body, and it is the one that we should be most mindful of as yoga practitioners. So often we see knee damages within yoga classes, something that is completely unnecessary and avoidable. Whether knee issues come from postural habits or accidents, yoga has a wealth of specific approaches in dealing with knee pain. This webinar will investigate what can go wrong, how it can go wrong and what we can do about it; to have healthy and successful knees." - Colin
"There is no quotable statistic for knee injuries because of how common they are. Being the main weight bearing joints in the human body, they hold us up but also bear all the pain and problems. As we get older, these issues get more extreme and prevalent, and so does the use of surgical measures for them. What does it mean to have keyhole surgery on your knee, to have part of it cut away or the whole joint replaced? We'll explore and discuss at this upcoming webinar." - Stanford
