“Quality of life measures the standard of health, comfort and happiness experience by an individual or group. Health can be understood as person's physical and mental condition; comfort represents a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constrain; and finally happiness is the positive and pleasant emotions experienced. With all these terms being predominately subjective, how do we standardly measure and compare them? Or is there such a need to quantify these fluctuating states in our lives?” (Stanford)
"Quality of life is a difficult subject to define because it is based on awareness, knowledge and our lived experience. We only question it when there is a perceived change for us, or when we constantly compare ourselves to others. What do we consider quality of life to be? Is it different for each of us? How is it influenced by the outside world? What are the effects from disease and illness? Can it be measured? And ultimately how important is it?" - Colin
